David -- Since I'm telling companies how to develop Websites, I felt that my Website should follow my own advice. Hence, the push to get it up to snuff.

Lesley -- I do really detailed proposals and then once the project is done, I simply use the content from the proposals and then add the results part.

Betty -- Yes, everything you do is marketing, but some things will get more results than others. For example, I sent out an email on Friday about one of marketing packages and have had five phone calls already from it. I would not have sent it out if I hadn't been doing the "challenge."

Hi Dianna, just saw your post about the challenge. I think it's a good one because for me, it's so easy to think that everything I do is marketing in some way, but some things are going to get more results, and those are the things I should do consistently. I think it depends on what stage you are at in your business too. But the power of the hour is a good way to get something done that you really have to do.

Dianna,
Thanks for sharing your "sins".
I completely agree with you. It seems like it takes so much time to do all the marketing that one wishes to do. I try to do marketing tasks in small chunks, even if they don't get published. I may write part of a case study, a draft, or a web page, and leave it on my pc until I have time to finish it. My marketing conscience is always beckoning me to do more. As we all know, there are just so many hours, and so much time. I do feel better if I can complete some chunks of work, even if they don't get published. How do you manage getting your case studies together when you are ready?

THis is a common problem. I need to update my site too. And my blog design needs to be spruced up. I'll get to it... eventually!

Ed -- Wow! Thank you. I'm glad this post resonated with you. And you are 100% right -- there is no one formula for success.

Kevin -- Yes, you can find good kernels of information in the blizzard of well-meaning information out there.

Ed,

I have learned the exact same thing -- that the little improvements do add up in very big ways and that you have to make them in all areas of your life.

Like you focusing on health, I've been focusing on time and am really surprised at how much I'm getting done. Not just work-related things, but personal stuff as well.

Dianna - This is so true! Little improvements DO make a huge difference. Easy to forget that in our immediate-gratification and high-expectations world.

Not only that, but I've recently started to notice that for these improvements to REALLY add up, it's important to make them in every area of your life.

For a few years now, I've been doing so-so in the "health" area of my life. But I can no longer make diet and exercise a "I'll get to it later" item. So it's moved up my list. But I've found that even small, gradual, and steady improvements in this department give me the encouragement to make the same type of improvements in other areas. So it's all working together. Very cool!
